Dear Friends,
Happy May! It seems over night all flowers are in bloom. How beautiful they all look and smell and what joy they bring to us, helping us feel more vibrant and alive. When and if you have the ability to spend time outside sitting and enjoying the beautiful weather, taking a walk, playing a sport or just spending time with your loved ones, please remember to enjoy every moment!
It is with great excitement that I share with you our 2023 Golf Outing Honoree, Dr. Barbara Keber, Chair of the Department, Family Medicine Glen Cove Hospital, Vice Chair of Family Medicine, Northwell Health along with Family Medicine Team at Glen Cove Hospital. We are so grateful for all that Dr. Keber does not only for the entire Glen Cove community and surrounding communities, but for the Senior Center and her dedication to Glen Cove’s Age Friendly Center of Excellence. Our outing will take place on Monday, June 5th at the Glen Cove Golf Club with registration and breakfast at 10:30 am, tee off at 12:00 pm and dinner, cocktails and many wonderful raffle baskets at the Metropolitan at 5:00 pm. If you are interested in joining us for the entire day, dinner and/or purchase a sponsorship, please visit the SAGE website at glencovesage.com or call the Center for more information.
May’s calendar is packed with our regular programming and additional exciting new programs. To begin with, we have started our walking club again which takes place every Tuesday morning at 10:15 am. It is so important to try and get some form of exercise and between our Walking Club and the Walk with A Doc with Dr. Barbara Keber on Thursday, May 18th at 9:00 am at Garvies Point, we are keeping our bod- ies very active. Languages are so important and we are so grateful to Lucy Van Horn for sharing her knowledge of the Spanish language with our members every Tuesday at 1:00 pm. Our Golden Gallery shares so many wonderful talents, not only of our members but of all Glen Cove residents. This month’s Golden Gallery reception will display the talents of Judi Musaro from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm. Please join us in celebrating her!
May is the month to celebrate our wonderful Mothers! Our celebration will take place on Friday, May 12th at 12:00 pm. It is notoriously a very crowded day here at the Center, so please remember to call 48 hours in advance to reserve your spot for this very important day. We would love to see you all! Last, but not least, our annual Senior Picnic is all scheduled for Wednesday, May 24th from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at Morgan’s Park. We are ready for a day of camaraderie, music sponsored by Oyster Bay Senior Campus and Brookville Home Care, good food and once again the wonderful ice cream truck sponsored by Emerge and the Glen Cove Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. Please contact Linda/Jill for all perti- nent information and to register for your spot.
Thank you to all who share their days with us. You bring us love, laughter and joy with every moment we spend together, and we are extremely grateful!
*Please note: If you are in need of any help, or would simply like to talk to someone, please reach out to us here at the Glen Cove Senior Center by calling 516-759-9610. We are here to help and happy to hear from you.
