ADP Mission

The Glen Cove Adult Day Program serves three primary objectives, which is our mission. This includes:

  • Providing socialization and cognitively stimulating therapeutic activities as part of a social-model adult day program that is designed for frail and elderly seniors aged 60 years and older in Glen Cove and the surrounding areas
  • Providing quality respite services for caregiving family members seeking relief from their responsibilities
  • Assisting seniors with aging in place, as they can remain living in their home and community while receiving oversight during the daytime

The Glen Cove Adult Day Program supports the most vulnerable members of our aging population by creating a safe and nurturing environment that encourages mental stimulation. Our programming is tailored to meet the functioning level of each participant, while at the same time ensuring that oversight and safety is maintained. The day program is a welcoming haven for the cognitively and/or physically impaired seniors of our community. Our program also delivers respite services for family members who need relief from the caregiving duties that consume much of their time. The services offered by the Glen Cove Senior Center permit a unique continuum of care to be provided to community members, as the aging process is appropriately supported in the Adult Day Program, and those who suffer from age-related declines can remain engaged in community activities at all phases of their lives. We place an emphasis on offering activities that stimulate self-expression, promote social interactions, and encourage a sense of well-being through wholistic programming and modified exercises, and we have been able to successfully assist many participants to work through feelings of loneliness and depression associated with the pandemic.
